Privacy Statement
Perciv B.V. | Last updated: 30 July, 2026
Perciv B.V. (“Perciv”, “we”) develops AI based radar perception software. This statement explains what personal data we process, why, and what your rights are. Perciv B.V., registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 87714019 and located at Molengraaffsingel 29, 2629 JD Delft, the Netherlands, is the controller for the processing described here. You can reach us about anything in this statement at info@perciv.ai.
Recordings made by our test vehicles
To develop and test our perception software, our marked test vehicles and stationary sensor units record public roads with radar, lidar and camera sensors. The recordings contain camera images of the road scene, radar and lidar point cloud data, and the location, date and time of recording; the camera images can incidentally include people, vehicles and licence plates. We obtain this data solely through the sensors on our own equipment and from no other source.
We have no interest in identifying anyone in these recordings, we do not attempt to do so, and we do not collect or hold any additional information that would enable identification (article 11 GDPR). People must be recognisable as road users so that our software learns to detect that a pedestrian or cyclist is present. It never learns who they are, and our software cannot be used to recognise individuals. Faces and licence plates are blurred automatically in our processing pipeline, and the original recordings are deleted as soon as blurring is complete, and in any event within 90 days of recording. Recordings that cannot be adequately blurred are deleted in full. Only the blurred data is retained for development, on our own access controlled systems in the Netherlands. It is never sold and never used to make decisions about individual people.
To the extent recordings incidentally contain personal data, in particular before blurring has been applied, we process that data on the basis of our legitimate interest (article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in developing and testing safe and accurate perception software for road safety applications; real world road scenes cannot be fully replaced by synthetic data. We have documented the assessment balancing this interest against the rights of road users, and you can request further information about it at info@perciv.ai. Once faces and licence plates have been blurred and the originals deleted, the retained data no longer allows us to identify anyone. Although we consider the risk to individuals minimal, we have carried out a data protection impact assessment and apply the safeguards described here as a matter of precaution.
Because we cannot identify or contact the road users who may appear in a recording, we cannot inform each person individually. Instead we make this information publicly available here, our recording vehicles and stationary units carry a visible notice with a QR code linking to this page, and we announce recording areas below in advance.
Where and when we record. We are currently not recording on public roads and no public road recording campaigns are planned. Our existing development data comes from earlier recordings. If we plan a new campaign, we announce the area (municipality and street or district), the period and the sensor types here at least two weeks before recording starts.
Your right to object. You may object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to any processing we base on our legitimate interest, including our road recordings, and also in advance for an announced recording area. We will then stop or refrain from the processing concerned unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds. To object, contact info@perciv.ai or use the form below.
Requesting access to or removal of a recording
If you believe a Perciv vehicle may have recorded you, please use the form below and include the location, date and approximate time as precisely as you can. Because we cannot identify individuals in the data we retain, some GDPR rights may not apply unless you provide additional information that enables us to find data relating to you (article 11(2) GDPR); we use that information only to handle your request. Regardless of whether the GDPR applies to a specific recording, we will always act on a removal request and delete the relevant material where feasible. Please note that original, unblurred recordings exist only until automatic blurring and deletion completes (within 90 days); after that we can generally no longer link any retained data to you. We respond within one month at the latest; for complex requests we may extend this by up to two further months, in which case we tell you within the first month.
Our website and cookies
Our website runs on Squarespace. It only places functional cookies that are strictly necessary to show the website and keep it secure, such as the “crumb” cookie that protects forms against misuse (deleted when you close your browser). These cookies do not track you and are not used for analytics or marketing. You can delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.
When you use our contact form we process the details you provide (name, email address, your message) to answer you, on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry. Contact enquiries are deleted no later than 12 months after the matter is closed.
Business contacts and job applicants
When you are in contact with us as a customer, supplier or other business relation, we process your business contact details to perform our agreements (article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and on the basis of our legitimate interest in managing our business relationships (article 6(1)(f) GDPR). When you apply for a job with us, we process your application details (CV, motivation, correspondence) to take steps at your request prior to entering into an employment contract (article 6(1)(b) GDPR). We delete application data within 90 days after the end of the recruitment process, or keep it for at most one year if you agree; you can withdraw that agreement at any time at info@perciv.ai, which does not affect processing before the withdrawal.
Who receives your data
We use service providers who process data only on our instructions: Squarespace, Inc. (website hosting and contact form) and Google (business email and document storage). Website and contact data may be processed by them in the United States; both providers are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses apply as a fallback. Our sensor recordings stay on our own systems in the Netherlands and are not shared with these providers or any other third party.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data and to have it rectified or erased, the right to restriction of processing, the right to data portability, and the right to object as described above. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@perciv.ai or through the form below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work; in the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Changes to this statement
We update this statement when our processing or the applicable rules change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
